Welcome to our inaugural blog post!
This is where we get to share ideas on our association, check what's on our calendar of events, review meeting minutes if you were'nt able to attend a meeting, check our constitution and a variety of things. Our news letter has also been incorporated into the blog which makes it a one stop shop for everything Yodaai! Click on the page tabs on top of the page to see the other things we are working on.
Our official website will follow in the near future, hopefully we can get a professionally designed website going soon but for now, this is the next best thing - and it's free! Enjoy and please tell our fellow yoruba citizens about it and about us. To be able to get this blog post automatically every time there is a new post, please subscribe by email right at the bottom of the blog page where it says "Follow by email".
If you just want to check in to see on any day what is happening on our blog, just type www.Yodaai.blogspot.com into your browser and it will take you straight there.
Also please Click on the blue tab on the right side bar where it says "Followers" to follow the blog by goggle friends connect. It allows us to see how many people are following our blog posts.
Please feel free to leave a comment at the end of every post so we can have a vigorous back and forth on whatever the conversation is about. This is the only way this will work, if we all contribute and participate. To comment, go to the "blog archive" bar on the right of the home page and chose which blog post you want to comment on by titles. So for now, only one title is there to comment on, our "inaugural post". Click on it and the comment box will be at the end of that post. Comment away!

Corporate Announcement From the President :
I wish to announce to our dear members of Yoruba Descendants Association of Alabama, Inc (YDAAI) - Egbe Omo Yoruba Ni Alabama, that our association has been incorporated as a legal entity.
The Articles of Incorporation of YDAAI was incorporated under the laws of the state of Alabama, U.S.A., on the 14th of July 2011 pursuant to the provisions of Alabama Non -Profit Act and having cleared the hurdle of name reservation.
We also obtained the Tax Id number from the IRS for the purpose of opening a checking account.
Checks for membership fee can be made payable to: Yoruba Descendants Association of Alabama (YDAAI) and mailed to our temporary address at 215 C/o Oluyinka Adediji, 215 Winton M Blount Loop, Suite #9 Montgomery, AL 36117.
The next task is applying to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to exempt our association from federal income tax under section 501(a) of the internal revenue code as an organization described in section 501(c)(3). This would be needed in order to allow funding of the organization’s activities and programs through private and corporate donations.
As you are all aware, our association has no employees. Administrative functions and organizing activities are expected to be performed by the officers and member volunteers. I believe when it comes to organizing, I can count on you all! “Ajose wa Ko ni baje O” Olorun a gbe egbe ro. Ase.

In other news, Mr Jide Thomas has resigned from his post as assistant general secretary and Dr Badewa has kindly agreed to serve in that capacity. Thank you to both gentlemen.
Our condolences to our Vice President, Mrs Sola Popoola on the loss of her mother. Olorun a mu ojo jin na si ara won o. Amin.

Glad you like it! That audio for pronunciation idea is a wonderful idea! I have to figure out how to do it- I will need a volunteer to read the words so i can video record them then try to post it alongside the words on the blog. Hmmm... let me work on that..

I extend my warmest greetings to our highly esteemed members and fellow Nigerians on the occasion of Nigerian 51st Independence Day celebration.
As we celebrate I ask all you to reflect deeply on our journey as a country and as a nation within the country.
We the Yorubas should strive to continue to lead in terms of service to fellow human beings in civility, to our creators with a deep sense of humility and unto our self with integrity. Let us borrow a leaf from the Oyos when they say “Ajise bi Oyo laa ri Oyo kii se bi enikan”. Aseyi se amodun O. Amin.
